Designing for Water: Interior Architecture Aboard River Vessels and Expedition Ships
Most hospitality design begins with a site: a plot of land, a view, a climate. Vessel design begins with none of these. It begins with a hull a fixed volume, a weight budget, and a naval architect who has already decided where the structure can and cannot change. Everything a hospitality designer would normally treat as a starting point becomes, on a ship, a constraint negotiated after the fact.
This is the discipline Studio Noor has practised since taking on its first river vessel commission: designing hotel-grade interiors inside a structure that was engineered before the design brief existed.
