Aqua Expeditions commissioned Studio Noor for two vessels, six years apart, on two rivers that could not be more different. The Aqua Mekong (2015) navigates between Vietnam and Cambodia a river of villages, rice paddies, and the slow rhythm of Southeast Asia. Aqua Nera (2021) moves through the Amazon at its most remote vast, dense, and entirely indifferent to those aboard. Both commissions asked the same thing: interiors that hold their own against their landscape without competing with it. The answers, by necessity, were different.
